Stars and Stripes Over San Antonio
Named one of the 10 best fireworks displays in the country by USA Today, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce celebration is much more than just your run-of-the-mill Independence Day display. Before the sound of fireworks fill the air, enjoy live music from The Klocks, fill up on tasty treats from area food trucks and let your little ones have fun in the Kids Zone, which includes inflatables, face painting and more. Friday, 6-10 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m., Alamodome, 100 Montana St., 210-229-2100, starsandstripesoversanantonio.com

Fourth of July at Woodlawn Lake Park
Looking for a place to celebrate all day? Start the morning with the 4K Firecracker Run around Woodlawn Lake Park and then stick around for live music, a children’s parade, food and plenty of kid-friendly activities. Close out the evening with the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza and watch as bursts of color explode above the lake. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati Ave., 210-212-8423, july4sa.org

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus
The highly interactive “Built to Amaze!” show gets the audience involved before the performance even begins during a meet and greet with the cast and crew that will teach you all the tricks of being in the circus. Once the show starts, you’ll see just exactly how a circus comes to life as they build the set before your very eyes, incorporating plenty of stunts, hijinxs and fun along the way. Friday, noon and 4 p.m.; Saturday, 11:30 a.m., 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m., AT&T Center, 1 AT&T Center Pkwy., 800-745-3000, attcenter.com

Run a Tab Pub Run
Mix your love for running and hitting the town with this popular pub run held every first Friday. In the spirit of the holiday, you’re invited to dress in outlandish Fourth of July gear as you take a running tour of downtown, with pit-stops at Moses Rose's Hideout, The Ticket, Buckhorn Saloon and more. Step outside around 9:30 p.m. to see the fireworks display over downtown. Friday, 6:30 p.m., meet at Pat O’Briens, 121 Alamo Plaza, 210-698-7600, werunsanantonio.mybigcommerce.com
