San Antonio Weekend Best Bets

Float Fest
Festival founder Marcus Federman combines two of his favorite things—floating the river and live music—for a full day fest perfect for celebrating the unofficial last weekend of summer. Purchase concert-only tickets to see shows from Portugal.The Man, Bun B, Whiskey Shivers and more, or reserve combo ticket packages that can include music plus access to float the San Marcos River and camping permits. Matisse: Life In Color
The works of Henri Matisse will be on display for just one more week before leaving San Antonio. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, families are invited to visit the exhibit and then head to the Stables Art Studio for a “drawing with scissors” collage project. The museum typically is closed on Mondays, but for Labor Day is opening up its doors to allow visitors an extra chance to see the French artist’s works. LaborFest San Antonio
This two-day R&B and jazz festival features entertainment from musicians Ross Royce, Keith Sweat, The Legends and Cupid (of “Cupid Shuffle” fame). Tasty comfort foods, from fried catfish to turkey legs, will be available throughout the weekend. Partial proceeds from ticket sales go toward the Dorothy Williams Scholarship, which benefits a student whose life has been impacted by HIV/Aids.Saturday, 4-11 p.m.; Sunday, 4-10 p.m., Sunken Garden Amphitheater, 3875 N. Lila Downs
During her fourth concert in San Antonio, Grammy-winning singer Lila Downs will present hits from her latest album, Raíz, as well as songs from her award-winning album, Pecados y Milagros. Esperanza Peace and Justice Center presents the show and sponsors will have the opportunity to join Downs for food and drinks after the show. Sunday, 7 p.m., Majestic Theatre, 224 E.
