Amazon - What Are Lightning Deals & How Does It Work

This post may contain affiliate links.

A Lightning Deal is a promotion in which a limited number of discounts are offered on an item for a short period of time.

Lightning Deals can be found throughout Amazon.com, including the Gold Box page, and are available, one per customer, until either the promotion period for the deal expires or all the available promotional discounts are claimed. Since Lightning Deals are time-sensitive, it's important to complete your order as soon as possible.

When a Lightning Deal is available, here's what you'll see:

-The item featured in the deal.
-Any available variations of the item (for example: different sizes or colors).
-The promotional discount amount and final price.
-A status bar indicating the percentage of deals currently in customers' carts or purchased.
-A timer showing how long you have to add the item to your Cart and claim the promotional discount.
-An "Add to Cart" button if there are available promotional discounts.
-Whether or not Prime members get early access to the deal.

Terms:

•Lightning Deals may only be applied to one unit of each product (unless otherwise stated).

•Each Lightning Deal is subject to two time restrictions. The first restriction is for the overall Lightning Deal and is displayed with the specific Lightning Deal. The item must be added to the Cart before this time expires. The second restriction applies after a Lightning Deal item has been placed in the Cart and expires after a very limited time. Orders must be placed before the expiration of both time periods.

•If all Lightning Deals have been claimed but not purchased and the offer has not expired, a limited number of customers may join a waitlist for a chance to purchase an item at a Lightning Deal discount. For more details see Join a Lightning Deal Waitlist. The waitlist will be active either until the Lightning Deal has sold out, the allocated waitlist places have been filled, or by 23:59 GMT on the promotion day.

•A Lighting Deal must be redeemed by checking out through clicking the "Proceed to Checkout" button from your Shopping Cart. Using 1-Click to check out will prevent the Lightning Deal from applying to your purchase.

•Lightning Deals appear under your promotional balance on the "Select a payment method" page.

•Offer good while supplies last. A limited quantity of Lightning Deals are available per item. If supplies are still available after all of the Lightning Deals have been used, customers may purchase the item at its regular Amazon price.

•Lightning Deals are nontransferable, not for resale, and not redeemable for cash.

•Lightning Deals are good only for specific products featured..

•Lightning Deals do not apply to shipping and handling or taxes.

•If you return a product purchased using a Lightning Deal, your refund will equal the amount you paid for the product, subject to applicable refund policies.
