Around San Antonio This Weekend
Light the Night Walk
More than 12,000 are expected at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual night walk this weekend, making it one of the largest of its kind in the country. Participants will walk about a mile and help raise awareness and funds for research to help better understand and treat blood cancers. In 2013, San Antonio and Austin’s walks combined to raise over $1.9 million. Saturday, check in at 6 p.m., walk begins at 8 p.m., La Villita Historic Arts Village, 418 Villita St.,lightthenight.org
Dracula
Ballet San Antonio is kicking off its inaugural season at the Tobin Center this weekend with the presentation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Having first debuted in 2011, the ballet version of the classic novel tells the chilling story of a vampire in Victorian London through three acts choreographed by the ballet’s artistic director, Gabriel Zertuche. Star Trek Into Darkness
Experience composer Michael Giacchino’s well-known Star Trek score performed live by the San Antonio Symphony while footage from the franchise’s most recent film, Star Trek Into Darkness, plays on a giant screen behind the musicians. The Shops at La Cantera Art Festival
In its fifth year, this annual arts fest will feature more than 75 fine and contemporary artists from around the country who specialize in everything from jewelry and glass to painting and sculpture. Get a head start on your holiday shopping, or pick up a treat for yourself. On Sunday, guests can purchase tickets to a Jazz Brunch benefiting Culinaria. San Antonio Magazine will be at the brunch so stop by and see us.
