This is the 22nd consecutive year that the American Lung Association has held an walk / run event at Sea World San Antonio but this year it has rebranded as a LUNG FORCE event that is dedicated to raise awareness about Lung Cancer, especially the rise in cancer in women. Of course all aspects of healthy lungs and clean air will be represented and we are also proud to announce that for the first year our event is an official Fiesta Commission participant which attracts over 2 ½ million people attending the 2 weeks of Fiesta
This year’s LUNG FORCE San Antonio honoree is 43-year-old Channel Williams, who was diagnosed with Stage 2B Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. “I was shocked to find out that lung cancer is the single deadliest cancer, killing even more women than breast and ovarian cancer,” said Williams. “My hope is that bringing awareness to Lung Cancer will aid in people being diagnosed sooner than later, and that research will aid in saving as many lives as possible. For a person who has never smoked and was healthy and young, how can this happen?”
WHO: All ages are welcome to participate in this FREE family friendly event.
WHAT: LUNG FORCE 5K Walk through Sea World San Antonio with Health & Wellness Fair featuring 5 different Lung Health stations before and after the walk, music, color guard, singer, face painters, character appearances, dancing, DJ, Mobile Fit unit plus many more fun things to do.
WHERE: Sea World San Antonio, 10500 Sea World Drive, San Antonio, TX 7825. Main Gate and proceed to back parking lot. FREE parking if you arrive before 8:30 AM
WHEN: Saturday April 25th 2015 – Program starts at 8:00 AM
