Dairy is important, however the term dairy can encompass a wide variety of foods and not all nutritionally equal. Depending on what your goal is - this may be a category you can lessen or just give up.
Dairy can cause high cholesterol levels, inflammation, diabetes and other health issues that maybe you weren't aware. Most YoYo Diets I've done, I always loaded up on cheese because it's a "good fat" and "high protein" - a cheese stick will be a healthy snack and will stay with me longer. Right?
Did you realize that 75% of World's population is genetically unable to properly digest milk and other dairy products (lactose intolerance), according to Dr. Hyman.
Dairy can -
-aggravate irritable bowel syndrome
-worse allergies
-sinus problems
-ear infections
-diabetes
-constipation
-inflammation
And you know what? Turning to Raw, Whole Organic Milk really doesn't eliminate these concerns. Yes it eliminates the pesticides, hormones, antibiotics but it doesn't remove the dairy.
Maybe just try to eliminate dairy for a few weeks and see if you feel better.
Shockingly this was the one thing I was amazed I was able to give up. I don't care about a glass of milk, but I love Yogurt & Cheese. Surprisingly, it ended up not being that difficult. I have introduced back into my life in moderation. I may make a casserole or dip a few times a month.
If you can tolerate dairy, then only use raw, organic dairy products. Focus on fermented products like unsweetened yogurt and kefir occasionally.
I use Almond Milk! These is a great alternative to dairy because it tends to be hypoallergenic and low glycemic as long as you opt for the unsweetened version. Helps with inflammation in the body.
NOTE: Infant formula is hydrolyzed or broken down and easier to digest. Once a year old you may want to switch to real food or almond milk.
Pulled a few things out of Dr Hyman books found HERE.
