What Sugar Does To Us - Hidden Sugars & Synonyms

This post may contain affiliate links.
Diabetes, heart disease, dementia, obesity has increased among Americans - primarily due to the overall addictive drug called SUGAR.

According to American Heart Association we should consume under six teaspoons of added sugar per day (about 6 cubes of sugar).  Average Americans consume an equivalent of 22 sugar cubes daily.

Here's something interesting I came across.  According to studies a high-sugar treat could be addictive as cocaine or morphine.  When scientists scan the brains of subjects who'd just eaten a high-sugar treat, the nucleus accumbens - the part of the brain that switches on when a person shoots heroin or smokes crack - was lit up like fireworks.

To stay under the recommended limit for added sugar be aware of what may be lurking in these foods!  Later on - I'll share recipes of some things that I've made - that help eliminate the sugars.  I've made my own Mayo, Mustard, Pasta Sauce and Barbecue Sauce.
